Management
While I have no professional experience completing any managerial tasks as of yet in my career it was a good experience leading groups during my time at ASU. It allowed me to test some of the knowledge I had picked up professionally and academically.
Project Timeline and Logs
Over my professional career I have never had to generate a timeline for a project and keep logs of the actions though the project lifecycle. I know of the importances of them in ensuring a project is delivered on time within budget, but that was the extent of my knowledge. Getting to see how drastically a report changes depending on the timescale used was very informative on how a project manager's thought process when developing documentation to deliver to a customer. While the overall outcome of a project will remain the same the perspective and perception of the work being completed can be influenced so greatly by just minor adjustments on how the information is being displayed.
ADEQ Project
Taking what I learned from the timeline assignment and combining it with the better understanding of stakeholders/audiences the ADEQ assignment was to develop project documentation and edit a few slides for the Funded Projects | AZ Water Innovation Initiative in groups of 2 to 3. We began with just 2 of us, with me acting as the PM for the start of the project and my partner as the primary editor swapping roles for the second half of the assignment. Developing the documentation I had to utilize what I learned from the logs and timeline assignment and my previous class assignment such as the content strategy to properly document and target the stakeholders and audience members for the slides. The first half of the assignment went off without any issues and delivered on time and in good quality. It was during the second half of the assignment when we accepted a third group member who had lost their partner for no specified reason. This only mildly interrupted work while we re-organized our tasks out so that they would be able to properly participate in the project. This integration though was fairly seamless and had not caused any overt issues other than the slight delay due to planning. Overall, as one of my first experiences acting like a project manager I believe it was a success.
